The fact that the outbreak and spreading of SARS happened in 2003 in China shows that there is serious lack of sanitary equipments for the paroxysmal common sanitary incident emerging. Therefore the mobile biosafety laboratory is necessary to be developed in China. The mobile biosafety laboratory has its own characteristics,it is mobile and has bio-safe protection functions compared to common lab. buildings. This research focused on indoor thermal environment of mobile biosafety chamber in order to design mobile biosafety laboratory more reasonable.According to the characteristics of the above laboratory, this study designed an air-conditioning system and a ventilation system of the testing chamber to adapt to various outdoor climates and control the safe exhaust of the hazardous biological particles under the condition of the constant indoor temperature and relative humidity. The outdoor air parameters of air-conditioning system load calculation are selected according to the outdoor climate parameters of five typical cities in the countrywide five building thermal design zones of China. There are four kinds of the air-conditioning operating modes in the chamber including normal operation mode,sterilization mode,recovery mode and safety mode. CFD Simulation and optimum were made on the air distribution of the air flow pattern in the model chamber with the help of CFD software. In order to do some researches on how to better control indoor thermal environment of the chamber and perfect biosafety protection measures, The mobile biosafety chamber (model chamber for short) was built and performances of the chamber was tested.The study results indicate that air distribution of the model chamber should be up supply and down return; supply inlets should be equably laid and be far away from the distant place of vent outlets. Differential pressure between BSL-3 laboratory and the next door should be 25Pa and it is controlled by fixed air volume valves equipped in the supply air ducts and variable air volume valves the exhaust ducts. Test results on temperature, humidity, cleanliness and static pressure difference of the model chamber agree with the functional requirements, which indicates the selections on air-condition system, air cleaning system and differential pressure control measure are reasonable.
