The research is mainly about optimal configuration of water in dual water supply system water. With system analysis theory and mathematical methods adopted, it is expected that city water resources configuration of dual water supply system be optimal and city water resources development be sustainable.First, research start with water crisis and explain water supply mode's limit, the upgrading of drinking water standard, the deficiency of water supply system and water saving measure, which clarify the importance of dual water supply and water resources configuration. Therefore, decide to combine dual water supply and water resources configuration for further study. After reviewing the history and development of those two items, for solving the issues of current research, the content and method of research are confirmed.Secondly, analyzes dual water supply system's structure via system analysis, and shows three representative types of city dual water supply system. Then adopting Interpretive Structure Model(ISM), makes research on the relation of all of optimal objectives from dual water supply system's water resources configuration, forming the structure system of optimal objectives.Thirdly, model analysis is applied to the optimal problem, which illustrates its model form. During modeling, statistical analysis is adopted to collect and deal with a lot of data, by means of MATLAB regression analysis is conducted then, cost models are established. Based on cost models, integrated with cost function for water supply project, annual operation cost models for every subsystem are founded. After the addition of limitations, final optimization models come into being. Moreover, by the comparison of different solution for optimization model, GRG is deemed to be the most appropriate one.Finally, a project example is given, from which two optimization models are established, and results generate by means of LINGO. After analyzing the results, it comes to a conclusion that system general cost reaches a minimum as water supply requirement is totally satisfied. This proves that the optimization model can be applied to city water programming to achieve the optimal configuration of city water resources.
