Water supply company and people have got to be of more concern with the water quality in network recently. Newly published criteria in the nation ministry of construction also highlighted the water quality in network. The network water quality was mostly monitored manually, which has many shortcomings. Accordingly, there is an incentive to replace the manual monitoring with on-line monitoring system. For the purpose of improving management of water quality in network of southern city, and forecasting water quality in network online, this paper did the following research.First of all, the monitoring system of supply network water quality was designed generally. The online monitoring parameter, equipment and data transmit mode were chosen.Secondly, the location and quantity of online monitoring points was determined in terms of inquiring of water quality monitoring parameter and monitoring point distribution, combined the status of network and the construction of potable drinking water in residential area. The online monitoring management system of water quality was built by the daily monitoring information, which can link database, inquiring by listing and figure, display statistic reporting forms and data or curve of online monitoring and do system maintenance, etc.Thirdly, three prediction models were built up on the basis of time series analysis of considerable data of five on-line and two manual monitoring points and water network hydraulic analysis. The first model was an on-line water analysis model based on time series method, the second model was an on-line water quality forecasting model based on hydraulic relationships between the upstream and downstream in the pipe, the third model was a real-time model to forecast the water quality of manual monitoring point according to the water quality data of on-line points and taking water flow time into account.Finally, the online forecasting models of water quality in water supply system were integrated into online monitoring system, which succeeds in on-line monitoring, analyzing and predicting. Then, the models were checked with the measured data and the results of the system are acceptable.
