As industrialization of electric vehicle comes near, effective data collection systems and relative analytical tools are useful for both demonstration operation and real road driving. The author participated in the research group of national XL Pure Electric Vehicle research program, and designed the electric vehicle data collection systems independently. And also the author did analysis works of road driving data. In order to satisfy data collection need of electric vehicle demonstration operation, both online data collecting method and wireless remote data collecting method were proposed creatively. The former method was based on on-vehicle data recorder, and the second method was based on on-vehicle intelligent information unit.The CAN bus data monitoring, calibrating, data explanation and replay software was designed, and also the on-vehicle data recorder's data reading and management software was designed. These software became the main online data collecting tools for XL electric vehicle.The XL electric vehicle wireless remote communication protocol was designed, and the electric vehicle wireless remote monitoring management system was designed. The system, which became an effective wireless remote data collecting method, had the functions of road driving remote monitoring, data collecting and on-vehicle data recorder's data recall, and so on. Beside that, the system realized electric vehicle faults detecting, remote calibrating and optimization, and electronic map tracking, so it was an exactly powerful tool for the work of electric vehicle maintenance.In order to evaluate of electric vehicle integrated performance and main components'characteristics, the data analysis software for electric vehicle was developed. In the software, the vehicle's faults, CAN communication, drive cycle characteristics and energy consumption could be analyzed from the history data which was collected before. The article had collected three XL electric vehicles'XL2000, VIZI, VELA'road driving data, which contained over 50,000 kilometers road length together. The analytical works contained energy consumption analysis, electric controller units fault statically analysis, driving cycle analysis, and CAN bus system quality analysis, the results of which became very valuable for evaluating the performance of XL electric vehicle.
