In modern society, electrical energy has already become a necessary part of everyday life for every family. With the coming of the age of electricity, every household is unable to do without electricity. At the present time, the manual operation method brings many problems such as personal error and inefficiency, and so on. It cannot fundamentally solve the existing problems only depending on expanding the numbers of meter reading salesman. Obviously, it will also cause the increase of the power company's operating costs.Above all, it is necessary to use an intelligent method to read the electricity meter,and to develop a modern communication method to upload the data directly. Only in this way, will the information of watt-hour meter be obtained by electric power company remotely and automatically.In order to meet the increasing demand of electric power and the electricity meter reading volume, this paper presents a remote monitoring system of electric energy metering device. Taking a community district as the research object, this method will realize the centralized control of the electricity meter in community.The paper designed an electric energy message acquisition and storage system controlled by MCU. The system employed the RS-485 bus interface to communicate between the watt-hour meter and the collection terminal, and also transmitted data to host data center by GPRS wireless public network.The central message processing unit accepted and stored the electrical data by using SQL Server 2005 database software, and managed the data by using ADO database connection technology. These techniques make the integration and analysis of electrical data more quick and efficient by those technical personnel.In this paper, the remote automatic meter reading system can realize the power sector's goals of strong power grid, excellent assets, service quality, and outstandingperformance. And the electric data can be timely feedback to the electric department in a intuitive, comprehensive and accurate way. By secure transmitting the electric information and managing the electric data, the more quality services can be provide to our customers.
