| China is a big and highly developing country, its special geographic and economical station determined flood is one of the main natural disasters, which directly influence our life. Since the founding of People's Republic [in 1949], we have set up a fairly complete flood control system, playing an important role in protecting and supporting the national economy.Influenced by the change of natural environment, economic development, man-made changes of the spillway, intrusion of the flood protection area, the flood control capacity of river, reservoir and natural lake is gradually decreased. The decreased speed is even faster than the improved speed of flood control capacity, In order to get the greatest advantages and to promote social harmonious development, people have been doing research on flood control capacity, which could help people evaluate the flood control system of river basin objectively and accurately.This paper is written on the basis of hydrology and research results on flood control system of river basin both at home and abroad, provides methods on the analysis of flood control capacity of reservoir and river wall. At the same time, this paper also analyzes the influences of the social and economic developments on the water flow speed. The summarization of my paper is as follows:1. Introduce the sense of flood control capacity of river basin; do research on the control methods; provides theoretical support and guidance on analysis and evaluation of control capacity.2. From engineering, economic developments and heavy silting aspects, this paper compressively investigates factors that influence the flood control capacity of river basin, from which effective methods can be found to reduce the peak flow and improve the safety discharge.3.
