With the uninterrupted development of science technology and the cutthroat competition in manufacturing, it is the most urgent affair for enterprises to develop new products. RE/RP integrated manufacturing technical has become an efficient method in the process of new product design and development in the advanced manufacturing field. The redesign of STL model is becoming a method that can improve the tempo of product development; it is propitious to enterprises. Its main technology has become a hot study spot.STL model file format has become the standard input and output module for most CAD software. Because of the limitation of prototyping manner and equipment specification, it is necessary to handle the STL file which from the CAD system before prototyping.Study redesign of STL model, analyse its requirement based on RE/RP integrated manufacturing, study the system structureand function of redesign of STL model facing RE/RP integrated manufacturing.Analyse division and combination technology aimed at STL model. Dividing larger STL models to several smaller STL models, and prototyping them several times or combining several smaller STL models to a larger one and prototyping once. Study algorithm of edit, division and combination, include its input and output, realize redesign of STL model.This paper focus on the redesign system of STL model based on Visual C++ and DirectX SDK on the plateform of RE/RP integrated manufacturing, this system can redesign STL model, shorten product development time, and improve development tempo and efficiency.
