Orientation plays a very important role in launch of missile in the mobile site. The existing orientation methods mainly include traverse surveying, astronomic surveying and GPS surveying. However, the above-mentioned methods have their limited functions, failing to meet the need of quickness, round-the-clock operation and independence in launch. Thus gyrotheodolite surveying method is used.In this paper, based on Y/JTG-1 gyrotheodolite, the integral orientation method is discussed firstly, then the influence of major systematic errors on the data accuracy is analyzed, especially the nonlinear error of PSD(position sensitive detector) and the error of period. In the integral surveying method, the swaying extent of gyro must be strictly adjusted, what's more, the operating process is stiff. Accordingly, the reversal points surveying method of lower-placed gyrotheodolite is put forward based on the improvement of the instrument. And the feasibility of this method is proved through a series of experiments. To quicken the orientation process and meet the need of quick orientation in the missile site, base on reversal points surveying method, continuous sampling track method is brought forward. The orientation precision of this method is close to the reversal points surveying method, but it takes only five to six minutes each orientation.Site surveying pattern with gyrotheodolite is put forward considering the characteristics of gyrotheodolite. Compared with the traditional methods, this method with gyrotheodolite is simple and efficient, it can satisfy the need of actual practice. To syncretize the results by all kinds of methods, the transform question is discussed in the end.
