In Germany, the Bauhaus was established by Walter Gropius as a state school in 1919, which is the first school just for art and technology in the world. Therefore Bauhaus is very important not only in architecture area, but also for whole industry time. However, for a long time, people only pay more attention to the Bauhaus idea about Volume production and construction with Industrialization. They neglect the main idea of Bauhaus that is to pursue one harmony form of society through buildings. In order to going on developing on the basis of Bauhaus, Bauhaus university in Weimar keeps forward with the ideas from the older generations and innovates in the present context. In this situation the project "neues bauen am horn" was born.The project "neues bauen am horn" was related with Bauhaus history closely, which came from the unrealized idea at that time. What's more in 1999, Weimar was named as " Europe culture-city" and at the same time, German are all prepared to welcome Hanover EXPO 2000.A11 of this made this project came true.The features of this project: (1) From architecture, the buildings were reused by many ways, rehabilitate, reconstruct etc... (2) From urban planning, the cool military area was revived and got higher value by establishing pattern-settlement and college-city. (3) From theory, architects try to design according to the grammar that kept with Bauhaus style in architecture; and connected with present theories, putting theories into practice.Through the project "neues bauen am horn", we can know more about Bauhaus and Bauhaus university Weimar, and it also can help us to understand social requirements more clearly with methodology. As a developing country, the experience from "neues bauen am horn" will benefit us in the future.
