Nowadays, in China the speed of urbanization as well as the amount of energy consumption grows much faster. If we predict by the recently speed and tendency of energy consumption, the main coral energy such as oil and coal will be used up in the nearly tens of years. The scarcity of energy in China is along with the extensive using and wasting energy. Most of energy is consumed in the city that develops fast. But during the process of urban planning, planers seldom consider the energy problems. The municipal infrastructure plannings are the only complete system in the urban planning that relate to the energy, such as the electricity, heat and gas systems. Urban planners seldom know the relation between other aspects and urban energy. Because urban "Energy Flow" can intactly reflects the problems of each part of urban energy, and it is convenient for us to find the elements that affect the problems of energy, we research from the "Energy Flow". Urban "Energy Flow" is that the energy begins from production, then transition, consumption and finally produces exhaust gases and waste. We want to clearly know the process of each part of energy flow, the relation with urban physical and the characteristic of urban energy. We try to find the ways to solve the problems of urban energy and the aspects that affect the urban energy problems. Try to know the aspects how to affect them. Jinze town is the site for this investigation and acts as a case study for the usefulness of this approach. The research bases on the project of "Bridging to The Future". This project follows the project of "Sustainable Urban System Design". Four international teams join in the research. They are from Canada, China, India and Netherlands. Each team contains kinds of experts, such as urban planner, architecture, government, energy and environment experts. They all research on the sustainable development of energy and environment from the existing urban district. This dissert also use the GIS and Metaflow softwares for research. Grope for how to design those aspects of urban planning, then how to realize the design through organizing some projects. Some researches must be continued in the future, such as how to manage to realize the urban planning and groping for the feasibility of the urban planning that considering the energy ineconomy aspect.
