Gears are the most important part of Automobile transmission system, and all the transmission gears are involute gears. In practice, the most familiar broken type of gear in closed gear box is pitting corrosion. In order to ensure the gear could work naturally in its life expectancy, its teeth planes must have the enough anti-pit ability—contact strain intensity. And solving contact stress is the mainly content of contact strain intensity calculation. Now the process of classical calculation method of contact stress which is used proverbially is very fussy, and demands to count lots middle coefficients and table data. It's very not convenient to engineers who care the results of contact stress only. So it is the time to realize standardization and create the special program for gear contact stress calculation. The entity model of the involute column gear is created comparatively hard. Even if use the mainstream large-scale CAD software such as CATIA, UG, it also asks for constructing a different model for a different gear entity, therefore it has necessary to erect gear's special part library which is convenient for engineers using. Much FEA software has a module for contact genera analysis, but by now has not a special program or module for contact analysis of involute gear which is used widely. If the engineer want to analyze the gear contact stress must learn how to use a contact genera analysis module in FEA software. We all know that is very bored and not necessary to engineers. This paper does a series of significant and valuable jobs according to aforesaid problems aiming at modeling and simulation for contact analysis of transmission gears. The main research contents and related conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1) Programmability and Standardization for classical contact analysis of involute column gearsInduce and summarize the classical calculation method of gear contact stress, standardize its count process, and use MATLAB to realize parameterized contact analysis calculation. It makes engineers put in the basic parameters and straightly get the results which they care for, no need to do those fussy manual works, looking up table and solving complicated formulas, and no need to calculate those bored middle coefficients such as: dynamic loading factor, tooth width, toothspace load distributing factor, elasticity factor, pitch-point area factor, engagement factor, helix angle factor etc. And it saves time of design and collating for engineers.(2) Parameterized Modeling and Constructing standardized CATIA part library for involute column gearsBase on former using CATIA to realizing parameterized modeling for standard straight gears, by learning parameterized design part of CATIA, complete the parameterized modeling for entire involute column gears, including standard, profile shifted straight and bevel gears. From now on, engineers use an involute column gear just like using a bolt because of constructing their special gear part library, and this will bring convenience to engineers. In order to go on analyzing in CAE software, we export the gear contact model from CATIA, and import it into ANSYS successfully.(3) Specialty Module exploitation for Gears FEM Contact Analysis Decompose the configuration of involute column gear from a fire-new point of view. Use ANSYS to draw the 3D entity of transmission gears (including standard, profile shifted straight and bevel gears) completely, and assemble the gear contact model successfully. This paper realizes the automatic pick of contact planes and target planes so that makes the automatic analysis of all process of gear contact come true. Do a thorough anatomy to APDL, and use it to write the parameterized program of modeling & simulation for gear contact analysis. Learn UIDL of ANSYS and use it to exploit the specialty module of gear contact analysis, which is set in ANSYS and is compatible with it by debugging with a relative example. To modularize the gear contact analysis lets the bored and fussy manual modeling become an easy and automatic sequence work, and it brings the most convenient to engineers.
