Research On The Renovation & Extension Of The Forest Of Steles Museum In Yao Wang Mountain

The Forest of Steles Museum is located in the scenic place of YaoWang Mountain, which is an important cultural heritage in YaoZhou district of TongChuan city and in 1961 it has been listed in the first list of national historical relics protection units. The Museum is a special topic artistic museum mainly for collecting, studying and displaying steles in BeiWei period and other historical periods. The museum is designed and established in 1980s and with the rapid development of society, there are some problems that not benefit for historical relics protecting and tourism developing. The paper studies the renovation and extension of the museum, accurately records the present situation in scientific attitude and method. After analyzing the current existing problem, afford a way to improve the extension design.The paper introduces the establish steps of the museum and studies the environment characters from natural & humane environment, thus provides historical evidence and cultural background for renovation and extension. With the development of society, many new standards have been appeared for establishing museum. Three points must be obeyed in design, that is, sufficient protection of historical relics, reasonable utilize and reconstruction of present buildings and reduce the environment destroy. The museum renovation and extension design has been made according to the existing problems such as basic components, functions, distribution of displaying area and combines with modern museum design theory. In the design, region cultural character is insisted as well as using experiences of other examples, and the exploring of regional design is made from overall distribution, space distribution, external environment design & model design.The paper is a feasible research report for renovation and extension of the Forest of steles Museum of YaoWang Mountain.
