Research Of The Path For The Conservation And Renewal Of The Traditional Residential Building In Xi'an Steles Forest Historical District

Xi'an Steles Forest historical district, which containing lots of original information reflects ancient personal environments and dwelling configuration truly, is one of the two traditional residential areas preserved most perfectly in terms of historical scenes . However, the traditional residences with high historic, artistic and scientific values have been being destroyed due to impact from modem civilization. Survival actualities of traditional residences in Steles Forest historical district are analyzed firstly in the thesis based on experiences and practices on traditional residences conservation and renewal. theories on traditional residences protection and renewal are summarized combined with traditional residence design elements according to representative successful practices. With purpose of traditional residences protection and renewal established, feasibility and principles on traditional residences are addressed in it. Moreover, some design techniques are concerned according to different types. And then practices and theories on traditional residences protection and renewal are combined primarily in this thesis .In order to search for more practical, feasible and long-range solutions to traditional residences protection and renewal, issues on traditional residences protection and renewal are discussed and analyzed further by architecture theories and design techniques following the routes of problem investigation, analysis and solutions.
