Investigation And Analysis Of Suzhou Classical Gardens' Plant Arrangement

Suzhou classical gardens are famous because of their special artistry. Under the influence of traditional thoughts, the past owners of Suzhou classical gardens would think over the way to make the gardens better when they built the gardens, making them have cultural contents, so the classical gardens are suitable to be appreciated for a long time. Being one of the four essential factors of building gardens, plants play an important part in the gardens. Plant arrangement will influence the scenery spots' beauty, so the plant arrangement of Suzhou classical gardens is always studied by people.This paper takes twelve scenery spots named by plant in the five Suzhou classical gardens which are Canglang Pavilion, the Master-of-Nets Garden, the Lion Forest Garden, the Humble Administrator's Garden and the Lingering Garden as the research examples, analyzing the current plant disposition status of these scenery spots with phytosociological method and aesthetics method. The twelve scenery spots are the Pure Fragrance House, the Smelling Prunus Mume Pavilion, the Small Hill and Osmanthus Fragrance Pavilion, the Watching Pines and Appreciating Paintings Studio, the Ancient Five Pines Garden, the Floating Green Tower, the Loquat Garden Court, the Place for Listening to the Pine Wind, the Magnolia Hall, the Malus Spectabilis Garden Court, the Hall of 18Camellias and the Osmanthus Fragrance Pavilion. It applies phytosociological methods such as community species composition, community quantitative features, community species diversity and community similarity coefficient etc. to study the plant arrangement at the spots. It analyzes individual plant and plant community with aesthetics method.
