Ningbo is one of the earliest opened coastal cities in China. The State Council positioned Ningbo as a modernized international harbor city. Zhejiang province is located in the most developed region in China: Yangtze Delta. With the fast growth of economy since reforming and opening, the throughput of Ningbo port has been increasing rapidly. It is definitely an urgent issue to build additional infrastructures to increase the capacity of the port. As an old district of Ningbo port, Zhenhai harbor district has over 30 years' history. It acts as general cargo transfer base for Ningbo and its neighboring regions, the present capacity of Zhenghai port can not meet the fast growing demand of the general cargo transport. It is necessary to build and reconstruct the general cargo berth to meet the need for market development. At the same time, the expansion of Zhenhai harbor district is the demand to increase the throughput capacity, to improve the investment environment, and to drive the economy development of its hinterland area.By applying various theories such as port handling technology, statistics, engineering economics, and combining theory and practice, this article qualitatively and quantitatively studies Zhenhai harbor district's 10# general cargo berth handling technology design and economic demonstrating through using forecast and economic demonstrating.This thesis consists of six chapters:Chapter One is an introduction of the current situation of Zhenhai Port, raising the necessity to expand Zhenhai Port.Chapter Two demonstrates from the demand of hinterland economic development, general cargo transportation market and the neighboring ports arrangement, solving the troubles of the current situation of Zhenhai Port.Chapter Three conducts an analysis of the natural conditions such as climate, hydrology, water area. Building 10# general cargo berth is feasible in terms of technique aspect.Chapter Four: Taking the current situation into account, this chapter analyzes the throughput forecast using the probability method.
