All-Terrain Crane (ATC) integrates the advantages of transferring fast of Truck Crane and cross-country ability and load running ability of Wheel Crane, so there is more predominance of the ATC compared to Truck Crane. The chassis system of ATC, which is composed with Hydro-Pneumatic Suspension (HPS) and Multi Bridges Steering System (MBSS), is one of the key technologies in ATC. However, the status of the HPS is still on the research level especially optimization design in China corporations. There are a lot of deficiencies of the HPS products in our country compared to abroad products.We can get quick and credible information through the way of dynamic simulation and optimization to the model of HPS and at the same time the design period is shortened. In this paper, the following contents are included:(1)Non-linear mathematical model are built based on the product of LIEBHERR LTM1500 ATC's HPS by use of the simulation software MATLAB, The dynamic characteristic of HPS are obtained and the affect of dynamic characteristic are researched when the affecting elements changed .(2)Stiffhess and damp coefficient characteristic are analyzed which validate the non-linear stiffness and damp characteristic of HPS model.(3)The dynamic 3D virtual prototype is built with MSC.ADAMS software, and seamless connection is established between mechanical system and hydraulic system. Dynamic characteristic of single bridge HPS are obtained and analyzed through inputting road displacement and the differences between interlinked and independent HPS are compared quantitatively.(4)After ascertained the key and relative secondary affecting factors to rolling characteristic and operation security, the optimization object function which is composed with weighted array acceleration of the suspension body and dynamic deflection of HPS is established and researched by the ADAMS software. Optimized parameters are obtained.In this paper, dynamic simulation and optimization of HPS are achieved. A optimization method based on software is promoted which is proved that the optimization results are satisfied and the analysis provides theoretical foundation in improvement of HPS.It has a good chance to be applied in pratice.
