Cable-stayed bridge is comprised of stay cable, tower and girder. In its bridge deck system the girder is mainly loaded with axial force and bending and in its suspension system the stay cable is mainly stretched and the cable tower is mainly compressed. The cable-stayed bridge is characterized by the stay cable that is attached to the cable tower as the elastic support of the deck. The stay cable can also reduce the section bending moment and weight of the girder so as to increase its span. Cable-stayed bridge has more complex structures than the other bridges, so its construction is more difficult. During the construction some special techniques are needed to be adopted. As a modern bridge the studies mainly focus on the design of bridge, mechanical analysis and construction control and so on. However the study of its construction techniques is underway. Based on the construction of Luzhou-Taiwan Long-river Bridge this paper studied the construction techniques of the cable-stayed bridge in detail. The main studies are as follow,1. the study of excavation techniques of platform with large volumes in deep water. This type of platform is characterized with large area, deep excavation and large seepage. How to avoid the landslip of pits has become the key of the construction. This paper presented the measures arrestment of the drainage after excavation every layer. The practical results make clear that this measure can control the landslip of the pits effectively.2. the study of avoiding and controlling crack growth in pier and platform. As a concrete structure with large volume the hydrated heat, air temperature and shrinkage and creep of the concrete etc. will cause the cracks. Avoiding and controlling the growth and extension of these cracks is the key of the construction. In order to solve this problem this paper presented many measures.
