Saturated clays that deposited in neoteric years are called soft soil, which are easily found in inland plains and mountainous basins in China. Containing with high proportion of natural water, large holes ratio and compactibility, small penetrating coefficient, weak strength and sensitive structure, soft soil must be treated before serving as foundations. If not, constructions over this kind of soil will sink or even collapse. There two wide-used and successful ways to treat soft soil:drainage and concretion, and extrusion with sand pickets. As we know, the faster the trains work, the less deformation of basement is permitted, and the less deformation of soil base is expected. To achieve this purpose, the old treatment methods should be mended and improved. Based on the in-site experiments in Kunsan in Jing(Beijing)-Hu(Shanghai)railway,two traditional ways mentioned above the applied, construction techniques and quality assurance are analyzed. These works include:(1)Optimization of machines and equipments, reasonable construction procedures are analyzed for plastic drainage plates,pre-compaction with vacuum and extrusion with sand pickets. Then, parameters that influence construction and measures of quality control are proposed.(2)Both traditional detecting methods and physic exploration are applied,to inspect the character of soil base before, during and after the reinforcement. After comparing and analyzing these detecting ways, the best way and criterion of it are brought forward.(3)Influence of plastic drainage plates,pre-compaction with vacuum andextrusion with sand pickets to the deformation of soil base are discussed. (4)Economic different between drainage and concretion and extrusion with sand pickets are analyzed.
