The development for train local area network, fieldbus technology and embedded computer technology is quickly. So many countries have developed all kinds of train communication networks. To formulate a standard for data communication of train onboard equipment and to take into account the future development of noboard computer systerm, international electrician technical committee(IEC)ninth technical committee(TC9) 22nd work team (WG22) and international union of railway(Union Internationale des Chemins de fer, UIC) have formulated train communication network international standard IEC61375-1 specially, namely the TCN standard. TCN is consisted of two-level networks including wired train bus(WTB) and multifunction vehicle bus(MVB). MVB connected the programmable equipments in railway vehicle, and WTB connected the vehicles, then TCN is established. MVB communication network is an optimized bus for control system, and it is suitable for vehicle bus. Then it is becoming the communication standard for future railway vehicles.This dissertation is based on the program for communication network of urban subway vehicles. It presented the developments of some main train communication networks, then it analyzed the applications and the difficulities being faced for MVB communication network of railway vehicles in our country. This dissertation also presented the structure, the data and the layers for MVB communication network in details. Then the classification of interface equipment, network card and network controller is presented. It also analyzed data error control of MVB communication network with probability theory and Monte Carlo simulations for check error sequence, and the supervisor message is presented, then the security capability is analyzed in details. The application of MVB communication network must meet the request of real-time data transfer by rail vehicles. The end-to-end delay of data transfer in the MVB communication network involves the average delay of packets in buffer memory, the sending packet and the medium transmission delay, etc. The main factor influencing packets delay is that the average delay of packets is limited by medium access control. Arrival of the Event-Request-Frame in the Master Device follows Poisson Distribution.
