| Four years have passed since the design and construction of the art gallery of Tianjin Arts College in 2001. This article primarily focuses upon the whole designing process of the art gallery, ranging from the very beginning of the design to the completeness of the gallery. Advantages and disadvantages are analyzed in detail with the contrast and comparison of the design of some art galleries home and aboard.The design has been made on the basis of unscrambling the intermediate key of the environment of Tianjin Arts College, exploring the historical and cultural factors of the city, analyzing the present transportation condition and considering the functional requirements of the art gallery. Thus comes the reply of the urban interspace configuration built up by various historical arrangements and the dispositions of the present environment.The design attaches great importance to artistic dimension. A kind of artistic scenic atmosphere has been built through the design of the great steps---the outdoors sequential space---which facilitate public participation.The effective organization of the exhibition hall, the arrangement of the exhibition route and the adjustment of the light environment are made through the analyses of the concept of the art gallery, the characteristics of the function and the technological conditions.Taking into consideration the requirements and dispositions of the multi-functional polymers, the crevice environment has been actively built under high-dense conditions, which solves the problem of the combination of spaces with different functions effectively and reasonably. The design ends up with the general sense of sculpture jointly formed by the organization of the functional space and the cuticle shape. Thus the gallery is endowed with an unpretending style.In the mean time, the design pays attention to saving energy. Energy saving devices like water source heat pump and low eradiating glasses are adopted to save energy. |
