Since the 20^th century, the rapid development of information industry resulted in that the different culture develops toward the same trend, the construction, one of the most important components, also lost its regional characteristics gradually with the rapid popularity of new materials and new technology. Beijing Charter that was pronounced in The World Architectural Conference in 2002 indicated that architectural culture and urban culture appeared the trend phenomenon and characteristic crisis. Researching the regionalism and resisting the trend of architectural globality to protect the regional culture will be the responsibility and rights of architect.As the important carrier and outstanding embodiment of regional culture, the folk residence is paid more and more importance in the research of traditional architecture. As to our country, there are wide territory, various climate and geography environment, more nationalities and various living custom, all above mentioned formed rich and colorful folk residence system. For many years, the specialists and scholars always haven't ignored to research these rare cultural treasures, so they got excellent achievements.This chapter reviewed the different development stages and main research methods for the research of our country's folk residence, and introduced and analyzed the folk residence on the basis of others'research achievements, This article starts with the relationship of folk residence and traditional culture to expatiate on the organizing ways in the space of traditional residence in our country and the embodiment of its sequence for traditional ethnical idea. Folk buildings expressed the pursuit for ideal order in traditional culture through its external appearance, which is also the potential meaning of buildings space. It then pays attention to the main research methods for folk residence, introducing the main contents of country art and crafts and analyzing West Old Castle, Hotspring Town, Wei County, Hebei Province through utilizing relevant theory. In terms of spatial arrangement of regional culture, Wei County belongs to the cultural circle of Huanghe Region in Central Plains and the folk residences in West Old Castle possess the commonness of the same cultural circle.
