A common accident on the highway is tire blowout. It is reported that about 46% of accidents are due to tire malfunction, and for tire burst only, it makes up 70% of the total amount. Even more, it is tested that if tire blowout over the speed of 160km/ h, the mortality rate of staffs is nearly 100%. Tire blowout is becoming a top three killer of traffic in China, both with fatigued driving and speeding. The study of how to prevent tire burst has become a significant subject for safety traffic at present.Aimed at averting or minimizing the impact of tire blowout, this paper presents a new technique, named, emergency inflation technology when tire blowout, and concentrates on its key components - ignition circuit, piezoelectric power and gas generator. The main points are as follows.1) With the foundation of tire structure and properties, the process and causes of tire burst are analyzed and the operating principle of the emergency inflation system is proposed.2) According to the possibility of real condition, the simulations for vehicle of 2-degree and 7-degree of freedom when tire blowout are established, and the comparison of dynamic responses between vehicles whether have the emergency inflation device or not confirms the utility of the technology.3) With a simulation experiment, the signal of tire burst is gained from the piezoelectric sensor. Then design a feature extraction circuit unit, also with the safety circuit. Through theoretical analysis and experimental design, the piezoelectric power is proved to be a better energy choice for ignition circuit.4) The gas generator for emergency inflation system is designed, and the proportion of its gas generating agent, reaction mechanism and combustion characteristics are analyzed.5) The ignition experiment of typical gunpowder in the manometric bomb is carried, and measured the biggest pressure which provides a foundation for ignition powder choice.Emergency inflation technology when tire blowout is proposed the first time, which combines the ignition technology and system design of the automobile airbag and the sensor technology of tire pressure monitoring system with a certain degree of innovation.
