Information technology revolution has speed up the step of economic globalization, and has further speed up the process of urbanization development since 1980'. Understanding and realizing the basic rules of urban spatial evolution (USE) in urbanization in China and modeling the dynamic process of USE have both theoretical and practical importance to providing decision support for regional development with the help of description and simulation and optimization of dynamic behaviors in process of USE.USE system is a complex system, which is an aggregating process including mass decision-makings of microcosmic agents in space and time dimensions and the effect and feedback of macroscopical transformation on microcosmic agents. At present, the relationship between microcosmic and macroscopic scales has become the focus in USE research. It is believed that the real complex urban spatial system can be simulated more vividly from the view of interactions among various agents and between agents and their environment.Taking USE as research object, this thesis advances the concept and framework of artificial urban spatial system (AUSS) for the first time by integrating urban socioeconomic system and spatial system and employing theories like artificial societies and parallel systems. By adopting the bottom-up modeling technique, multi-agent system (MAS), the innovative evolution model of AUSS is built, in which family, industry enterprise and business enterprise are selected as three kinds of typical agents and actions of the agents such as moving, dying and propagating are all designed in detail. Thus, interactions among various agents and between agents and their environment are realized. Using Swarm platform and Java programming language, simulation programs of the model are developed.
