A Study On Architecture Of Shu Ying Lou

In the history of Shanghai, beginning from the mid-later period of Ming dynasty, a lot of private garden has appeared. But most of them have been destroyed; few of them have been preserved. For that reason, Shuyin Lou is invaluable heritage in modern society. The preservation and protection of Shuyin Lou become necessary and urgent, which is why I choose the subject.Dissertation include four chapters— the guide, the plan of the Shuyin Lou, the structure of the Shuyin Lou and the conclusion.The first chapter bases on the relation between Shuyin Lou and Rishe Garden which is also the famous private garden in shanghai. Since the day Rishe Garden was founded ,it also has been changed gradually by every owner. I try to recover its original plan and find out the internal relation between Rishe Garden and Shuyin Lou, which is very important for us to evaluate the historical value of Shuyin Lou correctly and thoroughly.The second chapter generalizes the speciality of Shuyin Lou, which is a little different from traditional architecture of Suzhou style, based on the surveying and drawing of Shuyin Lou by Tongji university, and its plan, the space and sight of garden.Also basing on the surveying and drawing of Shuyin Lou, the third chapter analyzed the construction of column and beam, the indoor decoration and furniture, especially its decoration and furniture. By doing this, I hope to build the concept of the living style of shanghai in the ancient traditional shanghai.The conclusion comes out in the fourth chapter, including the evaluation and the suggestion of reservation of Shuyin Lou, which is the preparation of the further study and operation.
