Blocks' Scale And Border's Effects On Urban Mormation

Urbanization in China is soaring at the time being. Although research on guidance and control over the urban formation has acquired some achievements, we lack in research and exploration on the controlling methods: insufficient attention on BLOCK-the unit of control on urban construction in urban renewing and planning; indiscreet dividing and renewing blocks and indiscreet restrictions on block borders.Therefore, in this discourse, we will retrace the concept of the block scale and the block border, suggest that the main character of the block scale should be the scale and that the main character of the block border should be the shape and the critical environment and analyze the relevant influential factors of the block scale and the block border.Then, we will have an overview of relevant researches on the urban formation; we will build the theoretical frame of the urban formation to better delve into the effects on it from the block. We hold the opinion that the urban formation includes double aspects which are LEVEL and ELEMENT. The levels consist of the macro level, the intermediate level and the micro level. The elements incorporate the material elements, the relations between them, and the time and so on. The material elements mainly are streets, squares and green lands, buildings and room, and so on.We will analyze the relations between the block scale, the block border and the levels and factors in the urban formation theory; we will elaborate the effects on the urban formation from the block scale and the block border by concept citation, case analysis and diagrams. And we will statistically prove it on the basis of analyzing the breakdown figures of the downtown blocks in Nanning.At last, we are to delve into the necessity of the block scale and block border controlling; we are to do preliminary discussion on the block scale and block border controlling method; and we hope that in the future, the research can be carried on into urban planning practice.
