Discussion On Natural Environment Factor Influencing The Traditional Settlement Form Evolution

This article studies and analyses the Process of the traditional settlement form evolution, from the perspective changes of space and time. It is believed that the form of the traditional settlement is developed from growth point and border in the time axis. And in the space axis, the form is developed from the superimposition of five essential factor's form, road, border, functional domain, node space and landmarks. In fact, the process of the traditional settlement form evolution is the process of coordinating with the natural relation constantly in both two systems, because of the double functions of the natural environment factor.By analyzing, the results show that the guiding and limiting functions may bring prosperity or destruction to the traditional settlement. It is fully depending on the rational utilization of natural resources, as well as the adaptability of the traditional settlement's arrangement forms and environment. By analyzing the Form quantification study of the traditional settlement in Southwest Region of China, is helpful to make conclusion with community and differences in the development of the traditional settlement.From this we use the conclusion to comparison and analysis the typical examples in Southwest Region of China, provide scientific basis for the planning, design of the traditional settlement, and reasonable protection and rational utilization of the natural environment.
