By analyzing the weakness of existing Arc Suppression Coils (ASC) and the requirements to guarantee the reliable arc extinguishment in a single-phase-to-ground fault, an active & full-compensating arc suppression control strategy is proposed. The structure and function principle of a new ASC is expounded, followed by the research on arc suppression control theory.The key techniques in arc suppression control theory are analyzed separately. Real time compensating current detection is proposed and the simulation in MATLAB showed promising outcome. The control algorithms embedded in DSP is designed and compiled. The low voltage physical model is designed to verify the simulation outcome and for software debugging. Both the simulation and experiment on physical model proves that the active & full-compensating arc suppression control technology is feasible and effectively functional.
