The consistency and quality of the seaming process are crucial to food safety. Double-seam is the most important link in canning manufacture technical process, and the seam roller is one of the most core and important components on the can seamer. There has not seen the corresponding patent or dissect about the double-seam manufacture craft in domestic, each big universities or the research institute. The seam roller trench curve does not have the unified and general standard in domestic or foreign, therefore the results of this article research has filled the domestic academic blank. It has the vital significance for the can seamer researching and development ;the seam part designing.This article uses the formidable explicit analysis module in the FEA software ANSYS/LS-DYNA , and its post-processing software LS-PREPOSTD. Taking the metals round can NO. 10120 as an example, using the UG software modelling, and simulating the process of double-seam. Then the result of the simulation has obtained a smooth seam curling without blemish. This article has found the method to enhance the canning efficiency and lengthen the service life of the seam roller after studying the craft of double-seam.This article uses the thin shell forming theory, principal stress law and approximate energy method for theory basis, carries on the theoretical calculation to the seaming strength, and has obtained the closer strength value through the finite element analysis. This article has analyzed the role which each part of the curve plays according to the edge stress, and the double-seam process of the four kind of commonly used curves, then obtained the stress analysis chartof each curves. Found the most superior curve, and optimized it in order to eliminate or weaken the several stresses centralisms phenomenon in the work process, thus obtains the most ideal first seam roller trench curve.
