The technique of the double-seam is one of the main methods to seal the abnormity-can. The sealing quality plays an important role in the warranty of the abnormity-canquality. Sealing roller is one of the key components to format the shape of the abnormity-can. Grooved curve, reasonable or not, will influence the hooked integrity, the smoothappearance and the sealing edge of the abnormity-can. At present, there are few domesticresearch and no uniform standard about the grooved curve of the abnormity-can.Therefore, designing a reasonable grooved curve not only fill the blank of domesticacademic, but also have a high significance in improving the product quality.Taking the metal can NO.805as an example, this article uses the thin shell formingtheory, principal stress law and approximate energy method for theory basis, deriveingthe theory of the formation process of the double-sealing and carrying on the theoreticalcalculation to the sealing strength. The theoretical calculation is the academic basis forthe first sealing strength that is simulated from the ANSYS/LS-DYNA.The PRO/ENGINEER software is applied for modeling method of the abnormity-can. The sealing roller of the2R-grooved curve, the3R-grooved curve and the5R-grooved curve are adopted in the simulation of forming process of the abnormity-canseparately by the formidable explicit analysis module in the ANSYS/LS-DYNA. Andmaking analysis of the curvilinear motion which corresponds with the three seamingrollers in order to determine the proper way. To minish the stress centralismsphenomenon in the work process, alternation and simulation to the grooved curve shouldbe made many times. And to the modified double-seam of the formed abnormity-canneeds to verifiy the technology of it’s structure, which can judge the feasibility of theoptimized grooved curve and finally realize the majorization to the grooved curve of thefirst sealing roller of the abnormity-can.
