In the long time, the mixed traffic has been a difficult problem on the traffic management for cities in China. The presence of mixed traffic makes traffic order chaos and results in the abundant traffic accidents. From the existence and development of Chinese bicycles and the economic development of city, we see that the mixed traffic consisted of motorized and non-motorized vehicle will be existed for a long time in China cities. Therefore, this paper focuses on the quality of vehicle-bicycle conflict in such mixed traffic situations based on the Key Project of National Natural Science Foundation"Research on the principal theoretical model and simulation technique of dynamic traffic management and control in urban network", the Project of National Natural Science Foundation"Research on Conflict Mechanism and Essential Parameters in Mixed Traffic".This paper gets a mass of investigation data and gained a series of theory model by the analyses on the data using probability theory and regression analyze on the base of studies of formers. The contents include characteristic of bicycle arriving, travel speed distributions and extravasations characteristic, also including the study of vehicle safety because of the conflict between motorized and non-motorized vehicle using traffic conflict technique. So the author brings forward relevant amend countermeasure, and studied the influence including the effects of bicycle to vehicle in landscape orientation, portrait and motorized vehicle lane capacity by analyzing the disturbance which bicycle effects motorized vehicle.When some traffic establishments are built or rebuilt, and when new traffic management project are confirmed, we often use subsistent data to forecast some uncertain factors. Statistic distributions model of traffic flow characteristic provides the effective means to solve these problems. In the bicycle flow, many parameters is the stochastic variables, we can make use of the statistic distributions model about the stochastic variables to forecast them. The paper studies bicycle arriving, travel speed distributions, extravasations characteristic, landscape orientation characteristic and critical safe gap between vehicle and bicycle on base of statistical analyses on large numbers of survey data, which provide the basis for the further study.Traffic conflict technique is the measure technique and judgment criterion and measures and distinguishes the course and degree of traffic conflicts, and it is applied in safety evaluation and forecast. The conflict technique can evaluate traffic safety quickly by a large number of data, which also can rapidly quantify and amend the effects, so it is different from conventional accident evaluation theory. This paper applies traffic conflict technique to evaluate traffic conflicts of mixed traffic on the road section, and defines and classifies the conflicts between vehicle and bicycle on the road section. The quantitative relation of conflicts between vehicle-bicycle conflicts and traffic flow states is studied to make traffic volume be feasible to micro-evaluation of traffic safety on the road section. At last, the correlative safety disposal countermeasures are given in the paper.The conflicts between vehicle and bicycle on road section not only reduce the safety of running vehicle, but also decrease the running efficiency of vehicle. Therefore, the problem to which bicycle effects vehicle is especially discussed in the paper. The paper firstly analyses the course of which the bicycle interferes the vehicle, and classifies the interference course. On the basis of it, the effects of the bicycle to the vehicle are researched from landscape orientation and portrait aspects by regarding the vehicle speed and the travel time as the indexes. At last, the problem to which the bicycle affects the lane capacity of vehicle is studied by using the actual data.Finally, the dissertation summarizes the findings and achievements, and brings forward the issues for further research.The study for the characteristics of vehicle-bicycle traffic flow on road section has a great meaning. It can provide the basal support for traffic simulation on urban roads, the theoretical basis for traffic layout and the theoretical support for modifying the design capacity on vehicle-bicycle road section.
