Because the limit and unrenewable of the resource, Cities have faced the challenges of industry conversion and sustainable development in the beginning. But any city activity happens in the boundary on land. The urban form developed with special reference to the history process, development level, period and stage of the city.The paper chooses Jin Chang as the research case, setting out from the spatial aspect of urban planning, takes the urban land use and spatial expand as point of contact, using the historical and comprehensive analysis methods, studies the urban form evolution of Jin Chang in periods of time, tries to find the whole sequence, features, problems and mechanical force of Jin Chang urban form evolution, finds out the potential relationship of the society and economy of the city, concludes the regularity of urban form evolution of Jin Chang. Furthermore, in order to provide a reference for today's urban construction of the city, combing the future development tendency, the thesis discusses the optimization of Jin Chang urban form, in order to control the future development of Jin Chang and give examples to the other resource-based cities's conversion.
