The earthquake is one kind of the paroxysmal and destructive natural disasters, which leads to the severe menace to the human society. Moreover, with the development of the society, the useable virescence land of the city is being reducded gradually day after day. In allusion to all the problems above, this paper puts forward to utilize the roof garden TMD system to control the earthquake actions of the high-rise buildings. This kind of system could not only effectively reduce the structure earthquake response, but also may enhance the coverage ratio for virescence and alleviate city pollution, so it has broad development space and bright future for application.This paper has mainly taken research on the effect of the roof garden TMD system, which would be used to reduce the earthquake actions of the tall buildings. Firstly, this paper puts forward using the overlap sheet steel rubber abutment to support the system, taking the spring as junction device between the TMD system and the main structure, and then introduces the way to select the support and the spring, which makes it possible to apply the roof garden TMD earthquake control system into reality. The software SAP2000 was used to establish the analysis models of the non-roof garden TMD system and the roof garden TMD system in this paper. The works done in this paper mainly include the following several aspects: (1) The earthquake effect and the influence rule of the roof garden TMD installment were analyzed and summarized in this paper, which provides some references for the application of TMD in tall buildings; (2) In allusion to the building of different floors, the effect rules of the TMD's mass ratio to the structure, conclud the reasonable value of the weight ratio; (3) Regarding the identical structure, through the analysis of TMD's mass ratio and the damping ratio, this paper summarized the influence rule of TMD's mass ratio and the damping ratio, and then confirmed that when mass ratio is certain, a most superior damping ratio is exsited, which can make sure the structure achieves the best ability to absorb of shock effect; (4) Lastly, it was confirmed that the roof garden TMD apparatus may fully exert its ability to absorb of earthquake actions when the mass ratio and the damping ratio take the reasonable value through the analysis of a factual project in this paper.The roof garden, which acts as the frequency modulation quality attenuator, can effectively control the response of the earthquake on structure and simultaneously transfigure the city. The research on the roof garden TMD system may provide the theory gist and the reasonable scope for parameters during the practical designing works, and it has certain referenced value for constitute of the relative criterions either. To sum up, the research on the TMD system would bring us great economic efficiency and enormous social efficiency.
