Energy efficiency in buildings is a great problem in the world, but in China it is under developed and begins very late, so research on energy efficiency in buildings is a pressed problem. The wall is one of the most important parts in the envelope of buildings. Nearly 20 to 30 percent of total thermal loss in buildings is caused by the wall. Therefore, Energy-Efficient Design in the Wall has become a basic research for architectural sustainable development.Heat transfer coefficient of typical building wall is tested with heat flow meter. The effect of thermal insulation and energy efficiency of several wall are compared. Temperature field of wall which is tested is numerical analyzed through FLUENT. The difference of result between numerical analysis and testing is discussed, as well as the reason which brought on the difference.At present, there is large variety of thermal insulation material in China. By comparing various factors of thermal insulation material, the most appropriate thermal insulation material is chosen. In this paper, the advantages of external thermal insulation system on external wall in relation to other types is elaborated, as well as the hidden trouble and corresponding settlement, the economical thickness of expanded polystyrene board of external thermal insulation system on external wall is reached by calculation.With people's higher requirement of indoor air quality in winter, the unsteady analysis becomes more and more important. In this paper, the temperature field of wall is unsteady analyzed by FLUENT. Attenuation multiple and delay time of wall are drawn. Common brick wall, aerated concrete wall and various types of compound wall are included in wall types. The factor that affects the dynamic characteristic of the wall is analyzed.
