At the present, the study on tumor magnetic-induction hyperthermia is very hot, and that magnetic-induction hyperthermia treatment planning system is important content, its theory and technology including medical image standard, image processing, computer graphics, visualization, biomedicine, software engineering and so on.The subject belongs to Guangdong University of technology "Researching on the New Method of Treating Tumor with Hyperthermia Induced by Metal Seeds in the Intermediate Frequency Magnetic Field", which is supported by national nature science fund in 2004. This paper aims at tumor magnetic-induction hyperthermia system, and researches on its treatment planning system. Key technology and plan theory have been set forth, analyzed, built modeling, developed software and made experiments, containing DICOM 3.0, contour abstraction, 3D reconstruction and vision, medium set and place, treatment plan design, optimization and evaluation.Hyperthermia planning theory is foundation of hyperthermia treatment planning system (HTPS), and heat dosage calculation is key problem in HTPS. This paper introduces hyperthermia plan design, optimization, evaluation and dosage issue, quoting Maxwell's equations and biology hear exchange Pennes equation, discussing solutions to electromagnetism field, tissue absorptivity and temperature, and a way to get temperature distribution around vessel.According to hyperthermia planning theory and analyzing of medical requirement, a magnetic-induction hyperthermia treatment planning system has been designed, including system main body, function modules and human-machine interaction interfaces. Hyperthermia planning platform has been developed, implementing methods of importing medicine image and technology of reading information data from DICOM standard, having hyperthermia planning assistant functions in common use, including window width and center setting, view adjusting, physics and logic coordinates display in real time and so on.Medicine image technology is an important part of HTPS. HTPS needs importing medicine image, identifying and drawing outlines of apparatus and tissue in which doctor is interested. There are two ways to finish the job, handwork sketch or automatism contour abstraction. The later could reduce doctor's work and improve the veracity of contour abstraction. After sketching of the contour, tumor target and neighborhood apparatus should be 3D reconstruction for making plan visually. This paper introduces the ways of obtaining medical image, pre-processing of DICOM image, 3D reconstruction concept, classify, method and vision, designing a way of image interacting segmentation. In developed magnetic-induction hyperthermia treatment planning system, automatism contour abstraction function is also implemented and do 3D reconstruction and vision experiment on Amira software platform. Results show, as a 3D graphics supporting system Amira is suitable for magnetic-induction hyperthermia planning.In the course of writing this paper, I once engaged in research work on magnetic-induction hyperthermia at medical physics and engineering graduate school in Tsinghua University, and took part in the development of magnetic-induction hyperthermia treatment planning system in NUCTECH COMPANY LIMITED.
