The article study the response and damage process of natural gas pipeline in action of earthquake for the needs of earthquake hazard mitigation in order to offer a basement for both the design, reinforce, identify of natural gas pipeline through active fault, which is based on the fact of Urumuqi . In addition, the article computes anti-earthquake reliability of natural gas pipeline based on undulation response compute method of natural gas jointing steel pipeline. The main study contents are following.1 Effect of natural gas pipeline due to fault staggered movementUsing the universal FFM program ANSYS, this article analyzes the stress of the natural gas pipeline through Xishan Hill fault based on FFM theory. The following conclusions are drawn. When the underground pipeline overpasses Xishan Hill fault, the pipeline will be safe in the design time limit if the groundsill is clay layer, but the pipeline will be destroyed in the design time limit if the groundsill is gravel layer. So, this article suggests the pipeline foundation should be laid in the clay layer if pipeline overpass Xishan Hill fault.2 Effect of earthquake wave in natural gas pipelineThe fault structure, topographic condition and particularity condition of geologic structure of Urumuqi river valley the first class terrace aggravate seismic damage. According to earthquake stress analysis of natural gas steel pipeline,the paper gains that on the condition of 8 seismic intensity, gas steel pipeline in pile soil layer keep quicksand in action of earthquake wave. It is indicated that public tunnel project is effective method which protect underground pipeline if river shoal road is constructed.3 Both the seismic response and the resistance of pipe structures been treated as the random variables, the article analyzes natural gas pipeline anti-earthquake reliability of Urumuqi by applying random reliability theory. The following conclusions are drawn. On the condition of 8 seismic intensity,the natural gas steel pipeline where is located city fault zone, Urumuqi River strand,Jianquangou zone will be destroyed,but the rest 90.89% is basically in good condition.
