The purpose and significance of product configuration in realizing mass customization in the process of designing the special purpose vehicles on mass customization is introduced. Then the latest achievements of mass customization, product configuration theories, and its application in a variety of industries at home and abroad is analyzed, especially in vehicle industry. And mass product customization will be the inevitable trend in vehicle industry.Then, the designing of special purpose vehicle of mass customization special purpose vehicle is studied, and the problems exist in our special purpose vehicle designing was analyzed. Combing the features of special purpose vehicle, not only the important role that mass customization played in designing special purpose vehicle, but also the basic flow and common methods used in realizing mass customization in the process of designing special vehicles are elaborated.Based on the above, the establishment methods of modular special purpose vehicles in product family is presented, the modularization conception is brought into special-purpose vehicle design, the common principle and method of dividing module, and the realization process of modeling is researched。Then, taking one typical special purpose vehicle as example, the parameter design methods and means in module modeling is discussed.Furthermore, taking the module as a core, the method of special purpose vehicles configuration design based on module and expounds the relationship between module product family and configuration including the realization of the general flow is studied, common methods in the special purpose vehicles configuration design based on module. On theoretically studies the feasibility of realizing special purpose vehicles product configuration design.The product optimization configuration is analyzed and the conception of product optimization configuration is discussed, two optimization configuration methods were proposed, and the digital product disposition model establishment question is studied. Parameter model is one of the essential technologies in realizing the optimization configuration. Taking a dump truck organization for instance, the feasibility of realizing product optimized configuration was analyzed, a configuration d the simulation confirmation was carried on the automatic optimized configuration method. In order to provide a tool for the designing of special purpose vehicle product configuration, which is mass customization, this thesis develops the special-purpose vehicle product system, analyzes the basic demand of special-purpose vehicle designing system which is for product configuration, the system structure, the function structure, and the system data flow. The system realization method is explained, including menu design, dialog box design as well as main function module design and so on. Taking the dump truck lifting mechanism configuration design as the example, the concrete application method is produced.Finally, all the researches is concluded, in my opinion, the special-purpose vehicle product configuration should be further researched from the perspective of digitized product model, intellectualized configuration research and so on; meanwhile, strengthen cooperating research of product configuration at different stages, and develop the configuration systems which is fit for the whole process of product design and production.
