Along with continuous development of manufacturing technology and fiercer competition, customers require more and more for the individualization of products, and traditional mass production method cannot satisfy demands of manufacturing organizations. Being increasingly replacing the traditional mass production mode, mass customization mode is becoming the leading production style of modern enterprises. As one important part of mass customization mode, product configuration is the key technology and functional method for realizing rapid customization of the product.This paper makes research aims to product configuration technology and system oriented to mass customization. Analyze on the relationship between product configuration and mass customization. Discuss the significance of product modular design in mass customization. Propose the optimized model of product modularization, discuss in detail about the significance and overall planning of product modularization as well as method and principle of modular classification. And propose the three-level matching model of configuration oriented to modular product structure based on that. According to the product structure and the features of configuration design, divide the configuration course into three parts as first-level complete matching, second-level similarity matching and third-level correlation matching, that is, obtain the standard module that meets clients'demands by retrieval algorithm of first-level complete matching, get the similar module of the customized module by mathematical model of second-level similarity matching, and then based on them, analyze the correlation matrix among modules and associated attributes of modules interface, and establish the mathematical model of third-level correlation matching and realize the optimum combination of modules.The result of research shows that the three-level matching model of configuration can solve the problem of low efficiency in the design of variant molule recombination. Improve the efficiency of product configuration design and achieve the rapid response to customer demand further.
