"The 11th Five-Year Plan" of China is a crucial period of development for shipbuilding industry, which to be the Largest Shipbuilder.However, the development of shipbuilding equipment is delayed, which will seriously constrained China's shipbuilding industry's healthy development.Band brake is an important component of shipbuilding machinery, but the currently used method is slow and inefficient, so it could not conduct a comprehensive performance analysis and calculation. To cut the manufacturing cost, short the market cycle, satisfy the market demand and improve the competitiveness of the products, so it needs Finite Element Analysis.The thesis regards the band brake of VLCC as the research object. The 3D-model of the brake band, countersunk head bolt and Friction Flake are established, and the mechanical stress field and transient temperature field are analysed by the finite element method.The dynamic strain test result of band brake is obtained, which to check the finite element analysis model. The thesis mainly carried on the discussion in the folloesd respects:1,The basic theory of flexible friction and heat transfer are elaborated, force analysis and heat load calculation are derived, which provided the basis for the boundary conditions of the finite element analysis model.2,The 3D-model of the brake band are established by the application software of SolidWorks.3,The mechanical stress field analysis of brake band is analyzed with the large-scale finite element analysis software MSC.Nastran, and the dynamic strain test result of band brake is obtained.Compared the results of finite element analysis with the stress of the measured point, which proved the finite element analysis model is correctness, and provided theoretical support for the band brake's model.4,The stress distribution of band brake and countersunk hend bolt is studied, and the comprehensive analysis is carried out on the strength of brake band. 5,The transient temperature field analysis of band brake is analyzed with the large-scale nonlinear finite element analysis software MSC.Marc, and the regulation of distribution of temperature fields are showed in this paper.The calculated results of the thesis are the basic for further research the thermal analysis of band brake, which will provide reliable warrants for the design of band brake and other brakes.
