Drum brake is the core component of the vehicle brake system and has important influenceon the driving safety and comfortableness of the automobile. Yet at the present time, studies ofthe drum brake are mainly carried out by theoretical analysis from a single-physics field point,which is limited within the laboratory. In the actual process of braking, temperature field andstress field is the height of coupling effect, therefore, the study of the thermal-structural couplingfield become the focus of research for drum brake. The paper applies the finite element methodto simulate the contact stress field, transient temperature field and thermal-structural couplingfield for the rear drum brake of EQ1141G.The main research work of automotive drum brake carried out in the thesis is presented asfollowing:Drum brake contact stress field analysis. Contact stress field model of drum brake wasestablished by the finite element analysis software. To obtain the structure stress and the contactpressure distribution of contact friction pair. At the same time, focused on the contact stiffnessimpact on the result and the brake torque vary during braking process.Drum brake transient temperature field analysis. According to heat transfer theory, detailedstudy on the friction heat production, radiation heat transfer and convection heat transfer of drumbrake, analysis the heat production and dissipation process to establish finite element analysismodel to calculate an emergency brake, continuous brake, repeated brake of transienttemperature field. The thermal recession experiment of drum brake was carried out according torequirements of the national standard, experimental data and simulation data were compared toverify the correctness of the simulation model.Drum brake Thermal-structural coupling field analysis. Based on the contact stress fieldmodel and the transient temperature field model, determine the load and constraints to establishthe thermal-structural coupling field analysis model of drum brake. Obtain transient temperaturefield, stress field, displacement field as well as contact pressure distribution data of frictionlinings, to provide theoretical guidance for the design of brake.
