As a new product of integration of mechanics and electrics, electric boiler is a comparatively environment-friendly and energy-saving heating equipment at the present time. For the electric boiler, the performance of intelligent temperature control will directly affect the effect of energy saving, satisfaction of consumers and the competitive ability of products in the market. Temperature control with large time lag and disturbances is widely used in the production of industry and daily necessities. It is affected by many factors such as the control plant and production condition, so it is very difficult to build the accurate mathematical model. Thus, the conventional control method such as PID control can't meet requirements. so it is an important research with actual meaning to develop an excellent quality and reasonable price temperature control systems for electric boiler.In this paper, reviews of researches at home and abroad about temperature control system of electric boiler were presented, control performance and characteristics of system were analyzed and its design qualification was given. At the same time, many control algorithms of current temperature control system were studied such as PID, DAHLIN, SMITH and fuzzy control etc. Through simulation, comparing their advantages and disadvantages in the temperature control system of the electric boiler , the results show that fuzzy control is comparatively the best method ; Based on fuzzy control, a temperature automatic regulating algorithm was presented. a low-cost and intelligent temperature control system of electric boiler with RS-485 bus is described. then hardware and software design and simulation of system were competed. In this system, the designed structure is compact, the number of chips is less and the control precision is high. The serial mode is used in keyboard, A/D conversion and display, which reduces the number of port bus used in the single-chip microcomputer and realize low-cost. The result proves its efficiency and good applications and perspectives.
