Virtual instrument(VI) is becoming a leading development direction of instrument after instrument has experienced analog instrument,digtal instrument and intelligent instrment eras.VI, which combines computer science, bus technology, software engeneering with measurement instrumentation techology, employes the computer's powerful digtal process compability to realize main function of instrument. It breakes the mainframe of traditonal instrument and forges a new instrument pattern. Now VI is in the ascendant. With the development of technology and science, VI will developes and expandes fastly and attractes more and more attention.This project ingeniously applyes VI technology in the development of a paperless recorder develoment and finally achieves a solution which can provide many functions including multi-channel and multi-parameter signal acquisition, huge measurement information storage and management, equipment state monitoring and familiar signal analysis.This paper showes the reseach and develoment of the recorder in detail as follows: 1) Firstly it presents the domestic and foreign development actuality of recorder and detectes that VI is the leading development direction of recorder. So, we hold this opportunity and put forward this project to develop a recorder based on VI technology.2) Study and reseach deeply VI's concept, hardware configuration and software architechture.Then introduce the development platform and approach.3) Reseach deeply three key problemes including multi-channel multi-parameter signal acquisition, measurement data storage and management, mechanical equipment state monitoring.4) Lastly analyse function requirement of this recorder, then present its general hardware configuration and software outline. Then program its software by the hand of modularization design approach and do an experiment to testify the solution.This project is a successful application of VI in measurement domain, which testifies that VI is an available and effective solution and can be employed to accomplish majority complicated measurement task.
