Gearbox is a kind of widely used transmission components in many mechanical devices, and its faults diagnosis is the key part of the Device Diagnosis Technology. Virtual Instrument technology, of which advent is usually regarded as a revolution in instrument industry, brings into the development of test instrument based on modern test technology a brand-new appearance. Typical faults types and their generation mechanism are deeply analyzed and studied in this paper, and corresponding relative diagnosis theories and methods are analyzed as well. Then algorithms are constructed and codes are formed in development environment Visual C++. In this paper, conventional faults diagnosis technologies of gearbox are utilized with modern virtual instrument technology together to exploit the way that developing a kind of gearbox faults diagnosis instrument based on virtual instrument and satisfying user's requirements.Content of the study in this paper consists of:(1) Based on vibration theory and experiment study, analyze vibration characteristics of 9 typical faults of gearbox tooth error, gear uniform wear, box resonance vibration, shaft hettocyrtosis, tooth break, shaft unbalance, shaft heavy bending, axial float, bearing fatigue flake and pitting.(2) Analyze gearbox vibration signal with faults in time domain and frequency domain. In addition to the conventional spectrum methods, zoom spectrum and demodulation methods are introduced in this paper. Then compare vibration signals between normal state and fault state to extract faults characteristics. According to the comparison, propose effective faults diagnosis program.(3) Based on the above result, develop Virtual Integrated Faults Diagnosis Instrument of Gearbox, and detailed illustrate design program, design scheme and software programming.At last, it is proved effective by experiments that algorithm, flexibility and validation of this instrument. In a word, Virtual Integrated Faults Diagnosis Instrument of Gearbox is a kind of gearbox faults diagnosis instrument with characteristics of powerful function, high accuracy, effectiveness, low cost and friendly interface.
