Gearbox, a transmission component, is widely used in many mechanical devices,but it has a high possibility of faults for its complex structure and changeable working condition. Faults diagnosis of gearbox is always the key part of the Device Diagnosis Technology, so studying it has great significance.After virtual Instrument technology appeared and is widely used, the concept, model and structure of the traditional instrument have been changed. This gearbox faults diagnosis instrument was studied and developed on Windows operating system platform, with Device Diagnosis Technology and Virtual Instrument Technology. In this paper, the research situation and diagnosis significance of gearbox faults diagnosis were introduced, and the mechanism of gearbox fault diagnosis and the characteristic signal of gearbox fault were studied, then the scheme of gearbox faults diagnosis was designed. After this theoretical analysis, the faults diagnosis instrument of gearbox was developed.In this paper, the main research and develop results were introduced in detail as following.â‘ Based on vibration theory and experiment study, typical faults were analyzed such as gearbox tooth error, gear uniform wear, box resonance vibration, shaft unbalance. Every fault was analyzed from time domain, frequency domain, time-frequency domain to determine best diagnosis scheme.â‘¡There were mass transient signals in gearbox fault diagnosis signal, so gearbox vibration signal were Analyzed with wavelet analysis methods, STFT methods, and some conventional spectrum methods, such as time domain analysis methods and frequency domain analysis methods. Then compare vibration signals in normal state of gearbox with them in faults state to determine the best judging features. Finally, proposed effective faults diagnosis system.â‘¢The hardware and software used in system were detailed discussed. Based on these study results, Gearbox faults diagnosis analyzer-based Virtual Instruments was finally developed.At last, several experiments had effectively proved this diagnosis instrument system's reliability and practicality, so this diagnosis instrument can be widely used in different conditions. In a word, Virtual Gearbox Faults Diagnosis Instrument is a kind of gearbox faults diagnosis instrument with characteristics of powerful function, high accuracy, effectiveness, low cost and friendly interface, so it has vital significance.
