Clinical research reveals that hemorheology parameter has strong inter-relationship with cardiovascular, artery, and hematic disease, therefore, it is a very important reference in medical research and clinical diagnose. At present, the measurement of hemorheology parameter has become the focus of research in fields of biomedical engineering and clinical medicine.As the rapid development of embedded technology and its wide applications in biomedical engineering, medical instrument are developing towards minimization and portability. Combining current domestic and international research results, and utilizing the ARM-LINUX embedded platform, the project introduces a design of a portable automatic hemorheology measurement device, which is based on the U-shape capillary viscosimeter. This design not only represents the current trend of embedded technology, but also contributes to the minimization of hemorheology measurement device, which has great practical importance.In the paper, firstly the background and significance of this project is analyzed, pointing out shortcomings of current products, and giving new design scenario accordingly. Then, discussion is made on design principles and functional requirements of the portable hemorheology measurement device, and according to such requirements the ARM9 chip S3C2410 and LINUX operation system is chosen. Following on, sub-modules are divided, including motor controlling, valve controlling, mini-keyboard, data sampling, LCD displaying, serial-port connected printer, flash-disk, network interface, etc. The design concept, circuit diagram and driver module on LINUX system are given in detail. Finally, this paper presents the test process of the whole system and sample experiment, analyzes the results, and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of this system.
