The time-dependent reliability analysis is the key part in the inspection and safety classification of structure in enlistment. The rationality and veracity of time-dependent reliability has direct connect safety classification of the structure, especially the important foundation establishment which connect the national economy and the people's livelihood. Unified standard for reliability design of building structures(GB50068-2001) and the other design codes which base on it are not consider the time-dependent reliability in evidence. In this condition, the applied time-dependent reliability theory research is urgently.According to the Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Commission technology topics : major infrastructure service Steel diagnosis and Safety Performance Evaluation Method (item : CSTC. 2005BB0249) demands, we address the problem of a sub-topics : The model of time dependent resistance for the steel structure engineering and the time change reliability appraise has been discussed in this paper. Its main contents are :In this paper, the base concept of reliability of structures and the history of research of reliability theory is presented.A model of time-dependent resistance for the steel structure engineering has been raised. The expression and the principium value of many parameters in the model were been discussed and test the rationality in mathematics by examples.On the basis of the study on the existing theory and the APDL language furnished by universal finite element program, select The Monte Carlo simulation for steel structures safety analysis and the Response Surface method for steel structures applicability analysis. Combine with the model,φ(t)of time dependent resistance for the steel structure, made reliability analysis examples. At last the result of the time-dependent reliability analysis has compared with that of the no time dependent reliability analysis. Based on these examples, detect the time-dependent reliability of some parts in the Design code for the steel structures(GB50017-2003) are no achieve the standard which are ground on the year 2001 series correlative structure code.
