Study On Product Cost Control And Optimization In Product Design

Since the industrial design has been born, it relates to the society, economy and technology. Especially at modern times, the high-speed development of the society, economy, technology has impelled the constant development and ripe of industrial design. According to academic point of view, the present industrial design is a discipline which borrows many theories and concepts from other sciences, such as manufacture processing, material, ergonomics, psychology, semeiology, management, marketing, accounting, etc. In real application, the range that the industrial design includes is wider and wider, and the product design is a branch of industrial design.Nowadays, the survival and development of most enterprises faces great pressure of new product development. But the success rate of new products entering the market is very low at present. The high product cost is one of the causes. So enterprises pay close attention to the product cost control and optimization. Initially, the product cost control and optimization in enterprise mainly has been based on product manufacture and sales. Therefore, the measures of cost control and optimization mainly focus on engineering and management at that time. Many scholars also try their efforts on the field. Although the expenditure of product design is small in percentage of the product cost, researchers find that the product design is the crucial part of product cost control and optimization with the development of society, economy and technology, because the product design has restricted 80% product cost. So enterprises start to pay more attention to the cost control and optimization in product design. Meanwhile, scholars start to research deeply on the product cost control and optimization in product design.As a branch of industrial design, the product design involves multi-disciplinary knowledge too, and the knowledge exists at each step of product design flow. Of course, as a part of product design, product cost control and optimization should use the knowledge. Being based on the understanding mentioned above and literature comprehensive summary about product design and product cost, the author analyzes the concepts and flow of product design, and the author also gives an analysis on the concepts, structure and categories of product cost, discussing the relationship between product design and product cost in the dissertation. Starting from the analysis of these basic theories, the author studies on strategies of product cost control and optimization based on the flow of product design which has used multi-disciplinary knowledge and theories synthetically in the dissertation. After that, the dissertation proposes the conceptual model of a concurrent product cost control and optimization system in product design arising from these strategies which is the most important innovational point of the study. Meanwhile, the author studies the flow and structure of each module and adjuvant database in the system concretely. Through the research mentioned above, the dissertation aims at offering references to product cost control and optimization in product design, and expanding the study of product cost control and optimization in both theoretical and practical fields.
