The introduction of regional traffic impact assessment (RTIA) can comprehensively estimate the collective effects brought by the land development. Also, it can provide a feasible developing combination and remaining of the land in the district under the road establishments, which can give some forecast able instructions for the approval of a project. This thesis is intended to study the theories and practices of RTIA, as well as a case study. The thesis studies primarily some key problems of RTIA: relationship between regional Traffic Impact Analysis(TIA) and single development Traffic Impact Analysis, determination of the influence areas and forecasting of the new land-use in planning year, study of threshold of regional land can be developed and evaluation process of RTIA.Based on the academic studies, CUBE-Voyager is used for case studies as the traffic demand forecasting tool. Xuanwu zone and Chaoyang square are both included, while Xuanwu zone is a case of regional and Chaoyang square represents a single land developed. As a case of RTIA, the study process is as follows. After the calibration of the model in base year, traffic volumes in the planning year are obtained. According to the results, the traffic conditions after the project developing are taken. Further, some suggestions are provided for the weak links and intersections. In this thesis, the method based on link control is proposed to give the land combination plan for development. Then, it provides the threshold of regional land enable to develop. As a part of RTIA, the thesis takes Chaoyang square as a single land developed example to finish a TIA. The evaluation is carried out under the framework of RTIA in order to afford a traffic organization within and without the study area. Also the evaluation of transportation facilities and influences of different developed lands are included.
