Virtual Reality is a computer technique, which is developed with the fast advancement of computer graphics. It has been used in many fields. However it has never been used in the research of boiler.This paper will introduce a virtual boiler, which is based on the results of numerical simulation. In the virtual boiler, temperature filed and velocity field will be visualized by several ways.In the system, traveling is a basic function. You can travel everywhere in the virtual boiler. Interactive visualization temperature field and velocity field are very important functions when traveling in the virtual environment. Velocity field will be visualized by two ways. One is streamline and the other is drawing 3D arrows in a plane which is in parallel with XY plane or XZ plane or YZ plane. Temperature field will be visualized in many colorful images which are mapped with temperature.This system combines Virtual Reality and VISC(Visualization in Scientific computing). It can provide better interactive and visualization effects than usual data set visualization. It will help us have a better understanding of the flow of fluids in a boiler.The internal environment in a real boiler is very complicated. This research is trying to use VR and VISC to study the internal environment of boiler.
