The Spectrum Analyzer is a common measurement instrument in modern RF and microwave field, and IF signal processing is one of the key techniques of spectrum analyzer.The key role of IF Signal Processing in high performance Spectrum Analyzer is analyzed in this paper. The fundamental of IF Signal Processing and the realize methods are discussed. Two full solutions, analog and all digital IF signal processing, are proposed based on the different application platform. Several key technologies, such as programmable band-width filter, programmable step amplifier, Log amplifier and video detector in analog IF signal processing, and undersampling, digital down converter, multi-rate decimate filter, FIR filter in all digital IF signal processing are solved, in which the principles and realize methods of each module are provided. Finally, the simulations and experimental results are provided in the paper too. Furthermore, the paper discussed the problems in this field and made recommendations for future development.
