With the development of PC and peripheral equipments, it is proved that the traditional parallel interface and serial bus are limited. In this case, Universal Serial Bus is proposed. Recently USB2.0 interface has been widely used by more and more peripheral equipments because of its merits such as high speed, low cost, simple use, standard interface, etc.This IP core provides a USB function controller that has been certified compliant with the USB 2.0 specification for High-speed and full-speed functions. This paper focuses on researches of the digital circuit implementation of USB2.0 function controller and its verification. The main works are as follows:1. Introducing the structure of USB 2.0 device controller, and the design of UTMI module, protocol controller module and MCU interface module.2. Optimizing the design of MCU interface module based on IP reuse, which makes it possible to use this USB2.0 function controller in different MCU systems.3. Studying the Transaction Based Verification, Building a verification platform and describing the design of bus function module (BFM) for this USB 2.0 function controller.4. The result of RTL-level simulation indicates that the whole design meets the requirement of USB 2.0 specification on timing and function.This USB2.0 function controller can be integrated in many MCU systems and can be applied to various USB2.0 devices. Experiences are accumulated for the exploitation of USB2.0 device followed, and foundation is consolidated for the future design of USB OTG function controller.
